Teaching Philosophy
I make it my priority to be a guiding figure for undergraduate students by emphasizing on developing practical skills to assist them later in their careers. I believe education should be fun!
However, each student is unique and must be engaged in a stimulating educational environment that is safe to share ideas, take risks, and grow to their full potential as influential critical thinkers and capable problem-solvers.
My approach towards educating students parallels my development as a researcher: I emphasize practical skill learning that is desirable and competitive in the job market.
Upcoming Teaching
I will be teaching a virtual course with the Alaska Summer Research Academy (ASRA) on boreal ecology as it relates to fire, harvesting, insect and wind disturbances in the Summer of 2021. This venue has been traditionally been held in-person, however the impacts of Covid-19 give me the opportunity to gain online teaching experience.
